The remaining assets of a Belmullet business which closed last year will be auctioned off this week.

Wilsons Auctions will present all the remaining assets of Gateway Leisure via two phases of auctions.

Gateway Leisure was a family fun and entertainment centre. The business consisted of a tenpin bowling alley, Kid Island (a children’s playframe centre), restaurant and bar which will all feature at auction.

With over 250 Lots across two auctions, bidders will have the opportunity to purchase a selection of commercial catering equipment, restaurant furniture and kitchen accessories.

The main entertainment assets available at auction will include the large Children’s Play Area with all contents such as frame, all loose soft play items, blackboards, signs, reception desk and Atlas Copco Compressor. A six-lane Bowling Alley with all contents such as the seating area, screens, selection of spare parts. Also available is a full-size Snooker Table that includes balls, cues, scoreboard and lights.

Gateway Leisure had been part of the Erris and North Mayo hospitality and tourism sector for eleven years. “After being closed for 16 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we re-opened at the end of July 2021 just offering outdoor and then indoor dining in-line with government regulations. Our leisure activities remained closed. The soaring costs of insurance have left us, as a company, stunned”  said Enda Brogan, Managing Director of Frank Brogan Leisure Limited.

Wilsons Auctions’ Asset Disposal Auctioneer, Lee Geary stated:  “It is important to turn this situation into a good news story. This clearance auction will give interested buyers an opportunity to start new business ventures, create new jobs and recycle the assets for future use. All assets in this auction will be sold to the highest bidder on the day as there are no reserves being set against any Lots.”

Managed by Wilsons Auctions Dublin, auction one of the Gateway Leisure assets will take place from Wednesday March 23 to Thursday, March 24. Offered to bidders in a timed online auction, the Online Auction Of Bar & Amusement Equipment will be live for 24 hours from 1pm on these selected dates.

Auction two will be an Unreserved Catering Equipment Auction. This will take place at Wilsons Auctions Dublin premises on Friday,  March 25 with multiple bidding options available, including in-person and online.
