LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Christopher Brown of Tippecanoe County died after he lost control of his 2005 Chevy C-450 truck Wednesday night on Old Indiana 25 North south of Indiana 225, according to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office.
A news release described Brown's vehicle as a "service truck." Tippecanoe County Sheriff Bob Goldsmith said the truck had tool boxes, a diesel tank and air compressor on the back.
It left the west side of the road in the 4800 block of Old Indiana 25 North about 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, rolled down a steep ravine, where first responders found Brown, 29, still inside the truck's cab.
Rescuers extricated Brown from the wreckage, and paramedics attempted to save Brown, but he died from his injuries at the scene, according to the sheriff's office.
Tippecanoe County Coroner Carrie Costello released Brown's identity Thursday night and said an autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.
