Energica Experia - An All Electric Adventure Bike With 400km Range - ZigWheels

Italian EV maker Energica unveiled an electric ADV; aptly called the Experia, it claims a single-charge range of 420km! Traditional adventure tourers are meant to go anywhere and do many things, but e-ADVs like the Experia are looking to make that process more sustainable. The battery chemistry on the Experia has been revised. Energica is calling it the ‘Green Tourer’ platform. It intends on balancing comfort, power and range while being extra environmentally clean. The new 22.5kWh battery pack, Energica claims is the largest on any e-bike. Set it in city mode to get a claimed 420km range, combined mode offer 256km, WMTC will fetch you 222km and extra urban mode will get you 208km to a single charge.  With these range figures the Experia is punching in a weight category of e-SUVs like the Tata Nexon EV Max that boasts 437km (ARAI-claimed range) to the charge. Energica says the 0-80 percent charging time using a level-3 DC fast charger is around 40 minutes. The Experia gets a permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance motor, one that makes 60kW of continuous power and 75kW of peak power with a claimed, 115 Nm at the wheel.

Given that the Experia is looking to tread into touring territory, Energica has had to revisit certain mechanical strategies. For starters, it has ditched the steel chassis as seen on its other EVs for a steel tubular trellis frame and aluminum side plates. Even the rear monoshock has been now centrally repositioned. You get fully adjustable suspension at the front and back from ZF Sachs and 17-inch alloy wheels for road touring. Energica has given the Experia’s electronics package a makeover too. A selection of four riding modes(Eco, Urban, Rain, and Sport) and four regen modes. It gets Bosch’s eABS, cornering ABS, and six-levels of traction control. Also kitted is a new five inch TFT display.

All this green living will come at a cost though. For starters, it weighs a staggering 260kg, which is heavier than most full sized adventure bikes too. So off-road riding is certainly off the cards. Energica has not disclosed the price for the Experia but it can be pre-ordered from June 2022. Deliveries should commence in the second half of this year.
