The new Bosch GSR12V-300 12V brushless drill driver makes some improvements over the PS32. The PS32 is a solid compact option in its own right, taking 1st place overall in our 12V drill shootout with a balance of compact design, performance, and price. So how do you make it better? More compact? Higher performance? Yes.
Size and weight are two areas where we see improvement for the Bosch GSR12V-300 brushless drill driver. That’s saying something considering it was already the most compact drill in our testing.
The new design shaves another 0.5″ off of the length, dropping it 6.0″. It also drops to 1.6 pounds bare—a 20% weight loss.
The feature set remains largely unchanged. Starting from the bottom, the handle keeps the same general shape and adds some texture to the overmold to improve your grip.
Trigger, forward/reverse switch, LED light, battery indicator, chuck, and clutch collar are all very similar on both models.
The gear switch gets a slight change in its style with overmold that now wraps around its location.
Both models feature brushless motors with electronic controls.
Some of the biggest changes are on the performance side in both speed and power. Low speed gains 60 RPM and now reaches 460 RPM while high speed picks up 450 RPM to hit 1750 RPM.
For torque, you’re looking at 300 in-lbs—a massive 67% increase over the 180 in-lbs in the PS32.
The PS32 was already a pretty solid value at $119.99 bare and $159.99 with a pair of 2.0Ah batteries. What makes the new model even better is that you get the upgrades for no extra cost. The kit with two 2.0Ah batteries is $159.00 (a $0.99 drop if you’re keeping score).
The difference between the two kits is that the Bosch GSR12V-300 comes with a more minimalist charger.
We’re still working on some testing with this new model and will have more results to share later. For now, the size and weight differences are significant enough that you really can tell just by looking at the two drills side by side and picking them up. For what was already a class-leading compact drill driver, that’s an impressive gain for the Bosch GSR12V-300 right out of the gate.

Any chance the new charger is universal and takes both 110 and 220v?
Very good review, thanks. Bosch tools are my first choice.
Why did they remove most of the hand grip over molding? That’s dumb. The new grip is now all plastic only.
Does this new charger wall mount? I haven’t seen a single Bosch charger that wall mounts yet.
Always excited to see new Bosch 12v tools!
